Another famed restaurant in the Speciality Restaurant Group, this restaurant specializes in Oriental Cuisine. Having received the Times Food Award 2014 for Best Chinese Restaurant in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad & Goa, they’ve now started serving in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded by Anjan Chatterjee, this fine-dining restaurant chain runs ‘Mainland China’, ‘Oh! Calcutta’, Sigree Global Grill and Hoppipola among others. The group successfully owns 125 renowned restaurants that continue to churn authentic cuisines for the foodies. Before his passion for gourmet cuisine, his first job was with Taj Hotels. After a while, he started a hotel called ‘Only Fish’ and that’s how his journey started.
We visited this restaurant for lunch to try a few items from their newly redesigned menu.
Tom-Yum Chicken Soup – Traditional Thai Chilli broth flavored with Galangal and Kaffir lime.
Dynamite Tofu – 10mm Cubes of Tofu in Sriracha Sauce dressed well. This was a little hard, but the sauce tasted great.
Crispy Lotus Stem – Thin slices of Lotus Stem coated with Honey and herbs and fried. This needed a little work and could have been a bit crisper.
Smoked Cottage Cheese – A Chef’s secret recipe, coated on thin succulent chunks of Cottage Cheese and fried to perfection.
Vegetable Soya Sizzler – Lightly fried vegetable and Soya Kebabs Sizzled with Dragon Sauce.
Pan-fried Asian Chilli Fish – Pan Seared fish fillets seasoned in Gochujang (Korean: 고추장), a savory, sweet, and spicy fermented condiment from the Korean Peninsula.
Jiang’s Chilli Chicken – Chicken strips seasoned with Soy Sauce, Green Chillies, and Vinegar.
King Prawns Hunan Style – King Prawns fried in Soy-style Hunan Sauce.
Siu Mai Prawns in Lemon Grass – Chinese: 烧卖 This is an Open Dim-sum variant originating from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. This was a variant of the dish with Prawns and a touch of Lemon Grass for the flavor.
Dynamite Prawns – Prawns, deveined and cooked in a tangy Sriracha Sauce. This tasted really great.
Lemon Grass vegetable in Cilantro Sauce – Vegetables in a Cilantro sauce with a hint of Lemon Grass.
StirFried Vegetables in Thai Basil – Stir fried vegetables in a Thai Basil sauce.
Chicken in Smoked Chilli Sauce – Braised Chicken Cubes in a smoked Chilli Sauce.
Fish Chilli Basil Sauce – Fish Chilli in Basil Sauce served in a Clay Pot.
Edamame Vegetable Fried Rice – This is a variant with Edamame and mixed vegetables in it. Edamame is a preparation of immature soybeans in the pod, found in Oriental Cuisines.
Japanese Wheat Noodles – Wok-tossed buckwheat noodles with vegetables.
Mango Pudding – A Mango flavored Pudding which was very tasty.
Chocolate Bomb – Chocolate Dome with Warm Chocolate Sauce and Darsaan. Looked good and tasted great.
