An accomplished culinarian with immense love and passion for food, Chef Ajay Chopra has to his credits his work as an Executive Chef with some of the biggest hotel brands. His rigor and strong tenets has helped him reach great heights in the Indian television and food industry. He has featured in several television shows such as MasterChef India, Veggistan, Hi Tea, Chop Chop Chopra among others.
He is the Managing Director of Zion Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. Incorporated in 2014, Zion has an expertise in consulting for restaurants, cafes and events. He has launched several restaurants across India and is also the Chef and Partner at Jashn in Muscat.
His motto and claim to fame stems from his ideologies of LOVE, PRAY, COOK.

Ajay began his career with the Cecil Oberoi in Shimla. He was the front man of the culinary team at The Westin Mumbai Garden City until 2014. His skills in the kitchen were best displayed at Kangan, the chic Indian dining venue located in The Westin Mumbai, Garden City. Before his claim to fame as Masterchef, Ajay built on his skills at the Oberoi Center for Learning and Development (OCLD) and emerged as a gold medalist. He began his career by being assigned as a chef at Kandahar, the Indian specialty restaurant at The Oberoi, New Delhi. In addition to Kandahar he was also responsible for the hotel’s banqueting operations as well as the coffee shop. Ajay then moved to J. W. Marriott in Mumbai where he led operations as the Chef de Cuisine at the Lotus Café, the busiest and the largest coffee shop in Mumbai. He moved to The Saffron, the Indian speciality restaurant of the JW Marriott, as the chef de cuisine.

After working in his home country for ten years moving along his culinary journey, Ajay decided to venture west and found himself in London, UK where he became the Executive Head Chef of the acclaimed Mint Leaf chain of restaurants. During his tenure in London, Ajay took Mint Leaf to greater heights in Indian cuisine and was also voted as among the top eight best Indian Chefs in London. Already regarded as the benchmark for Modern and Indian fine dining, the chain, under his stewardship, rose to new culinary heights in Indian cuisine. Over the last 7 years Mint Leaf has enjoyed critical acclaim for its ability to reinterpret classic Indian dishes in a contemporary fashion. During his culinary sojourn in the UK, Ajay was voted one of the eight best Indian chefs of London. At his stint at Mayfair he has brushed shoulders with Gordon Ramsay and Angela Hartnett. Atul Kochar, Vineet Bhatia and Vivek Singh. On returning to India he took up the position of executive chef of The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Having worked in London and with his knowledge of the international restaurant trends, Chef Ajay Chopra brings a refreshing approach to the food scene in India and prides himself on his modern take on classical Indian dishes with a tantalizing twist. After a sparkling career as the head of the kitchen brigade for globally recognized chains Marriott and Starwood, and after successfully hosting food shows on two of India’s leading television channels Chef Ajay Chopra has reinvented himself. This jovial and talented Chef also plays guitar and pursues his hobby as a photographer. He also enjoys cooking with his sons Akshat and Ashish. He will start a new show “The Big Daddy Chef” soon.

Ajay is greatly committed to taking Indian cuisine into new and uncharted areas and constantly experiments with new ingredients and flavours. Apart from being a passionate chef Ajay Chopra is also hosts food show is a stage performer, singer and has a knack for photography. Today Ajay has a brigade of 15 restaurants which he is mentoring in India and Abu Dhabi. Apart from Being the brand ambassador of Sumeru , Sodexo and a brand friend to many brands such as HUL, havells and Qatar Tourism, he is passionate to create food with a playful twist.

We also got to meet and interact with Mithun Appaiah, the new CEO of India’s leading frozen foods brand Sumeru, under Innovative Foods Ltd. He holds a PGDM in Business Administration and Management from IFIM Business School, Bangalore and was the topper in marketing. An FMCG expert in Food and Beverage industry, Mithun has a rich experience spanning across the spectrum of marketing, sales, key account management, customer marketing, business development, SCM, R&D, P&L management, developing new business channels, E-commerce and start-up acceleration. In his previous assignment, he was the Vice President of ID foods which saw great disruptive growth under his leadership. Under his watch the revenues in retail footprint tripled in 2 years. He also pioneered retail expansion, Marketing, digital initiatives, new channel development, R&D as well as many disruptive first in the industry concepts. He has also worked with Nestle India Ltd. handling urban and rural markets with an aim to build the rural market footprint and expand distribution to feeder towns. He has played an instrumental role in creating progressive and profitable business for brands such as Britannia, UB Group and Seagrams and has won several awards for excellence too. He also mentors aspiring business managers as well as a few startups in the consumer space.
